SEE Tour Info

What is a tour at SEE like?
Your visit will include an interactive tour of the major exhibits with time afterward to explore the other exhibits. During the tour, guides will ask questions appropriate to age level to stimulate scientific thinking. Using group members as demonstrators, the scientific principles behind the exhibits will be demonstrated in a fun and exciting manner. The tour may include special demonstrations of the Electrostatic generator and for those visitors under 80 lbs, the MOONWALK which simulates the moon's gravity! After the tour, visitors will explore and discover on their own; staff will be available to answer questions. Some may wish to visit the gift shop featuring inexpensive science related items.

Who Visits SEE?
Groups of visitors ages four and above can benefit from a visit to SEE. Presentations are geared to the age level, and most of the exhibits have multiple layers of learning. So whether your group is made up of pre-schoolers, middle-schoolers, high-schoolers, or senior citizens, all will enjoy the fun of scientific discovery. SEE and most of our exhibits are handicapped accessible.

How much does it cost?
Admission is $5.00 per child and with every 3 (three) students, 1 (one) adult is admitted free. There is a minimum of 15 students (or a minimum $75 charge) for tours.

What is the best size for a group?
Groups of 75 or less have the optimal learning experience. If your group is larger, please call the office for suggestions about dual visits to other area attractions or different formats. During peak periods, if your group is less than 50 you may be combined with another small group. Every effort is made to match groups by grade level.

When can we visit?
During the school year, group tours are available Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm Other times may be available - call the office to inquire about special arrangements.

How do I reserve a tour?
Call the SEE office at (603)669-0400 to make a reservation or e-mail us at
http://www.SEE-ScienceCenter.org. Please be prepared with information about the make-up of the group and preferred dates.

Chem Lab Info

The Chemistry Room is open by appointment for student groups. Each lab activity, although self-directed, features a related demonstration performed by a SEE staff member, provides suggested discussion to introduce and wrap-up the experiment, step-by-step instructions for the students, all lab equipment and materials needed, and a handout to take back to the classroom for further exploration.

Chemical Reactions (for grades 6 and up) students will discover:

  • 1. How to recognize a chemical reaction.
  • 2. That chemical reactions may release energy (i.e. heat or light).
  • 3. That the rate of chemical reaction is dependent on the amount of chemicals used.
  • 4. That matter is made up of very small particles.
  • 5. That chemical reactions occur all the time in our everyday lives. Chemical Reactions will feature 4 different hands-on experiments to be done by the students such as Hot and Cold where the students create endothermic and exothermic reactions and See The Light which has students creating a chemical reaction that produces light. Also, there will be additional visual experiments in the lab to further explore.

Slimy Science (for grades 1 - 5)
Students will get their hands deep into science when they combine two liquid substances and create their own batch of silly putty to take home. Need we say more!

Polymers & Slime (for grades 3 - 5)
Students will be introduced to the world of polymers and discover their versatility and abundance in our everyday lives. They will create their own "polymer" when they make their own batch of slime to take home.

What Does it Cost?
