
Our second annual Evening of Discovery and Giving: SEE Science Center Celebrates the Art of Invention presented by RBC Wealth Management was held on May 6, 2010.
Sponsored by RBC Wealth Management and hosted by local inventor and entrepreneur Dean Kamen, the second annual event, the SEE Science Center Celebrates the Art of Invention, was a successful night of exploration and giving. The event highlighted the inventions of Leonardo DaVinci and included a trebuchet contest where guests could try out one of his innovations. On special display at the event were twelve patent models from the Rothchild Patent Model Collection. The patent models were from the time period from 1790 to 1880 when it was required by the U.S. Patent Office that a model be submitted with a patent application. The evening also featured the artwork of David Macaulay, the highly regarded author and illustrator of The Way Things Work and many other books which explain concepts in a way everyone can understand.
The evening included a presentation to Kedar Gupta of ARC Energy to celebrate his accomplishments in the advancement of science and technology in New Hampshire. The evening's host, Dean Kamen was presented with a drawing by the featured artist David Macauley.
Presenting Sponsor RBC Wealth Management represented by Mr. Bill Branson, Regional Director for the RBC Northeast Region, presented a $20,000 check to Douglas Heuser, Director of the SEE Science Center. The event raised more than $75,000 to support the programs and exhibits of the SEE Science Center.

Guests at the event were encouraged to explore the home of Mr. Kamen, who was available for conversation regarding his inventions, work, art and engineering pieces. Dean spoke regarding the importance of science education. The evening concluded with a live auction.
